Overview

A cycling holiday in 5 easy stages with average distances and the occasional tough climb. You cross Catalonia from the Pyrenees to the Costa Brava along a mosaic of different landscapes, beautiful mountain villages, the historic city of Gerona, infinite forests, extinguished volcanoes, fields of poppies, marshes, rivers and the beautiful rocky coast of the Costa Brava with its fishing villages, You leave at 2000 meters altitude and gradually descend via a cycle path and quiet roads to the Mediterranean Sea: an unforgettable experience!

Day 1: Welcome
Day 1: Welcome

Transfer from the airport to your hotel in Setcases, where you will stay the first night. Our guide welcomes you and gives you all the explanations about the route, cycling maps, GPS, the tourist information and prepares your bike together with you.
After the briefing you have plenty of time to visit the beautiful mountain village.

Day 2: The Pyrenees

Distance: 47km or 35km
From Setcases we take you and your bikes to Vallter 2000, a ski station high in the mountains where the River Ter originates. Surrounded by mighty peaks of almost 3000m high, you descend through beautiful scenery until you cycle past Setcases again. Along rural roads and cycle paths you cycle through the pretty villages of Vilallonga de Ter, Llanars, Camprodón and Sant Joan de les Abbesses. Here the cycle path known as the "green road" or "vía verde" begins and goes all the way to Ripoll where the Romanesque monastery of Santa Maria de Ripoll stands, well worth a visit. Day 3: Land of volcanoes

Distance: 39km
You leave Ripoll via the same cycle path to Sant Joan de les Abadesses, a village with a beautiful històric centre and Romanesque monastery. Here the climb to the Col van Santigosa starts (6km at 5%) which is a wonderful experience for the keen cyclist and e-bikers alike. Then you descend through forests and past volcanoes to the large village of Olot, which you can visit before dinner.

Distance: 60km
Beautiful stage from Olot to Girona along the old railway through the beautiful vallie of La Vall d'en Bas, known as the "catalan Switzerland", with beautiful landscapes and beautiful villages such as Sant Privat d'en Bas and Hostalets d'en Bas. After the huevel of "Coll d'en Bas" (620 m) you follow the river Burgent up to La Cellera, where you follow the river Ter to Gerona.
Your hotel is in the city of Gerona, one of the most beautiful towns in Spain with a very rich cultural heritage and cycle capital of Catalunya.

Day 5: Costa Brava and the Mediterranean Sea

Distance: 40km
Today you cycle via the cycle path the "via verde" from Gerona to the coast through beautiful fields and pine forests. You reach Sant Feliu de Guixols, an authentic Spanish village on the coast with a fishing port, a rich historical past, cozy market squares and a beautiful sandy beach. You will stay in the center of Sant Feliu de Guixols, within walking distance of the beach and the car-free town centre.

Day 6: Medieval villages and the beaches of the Costa Brava

Distance: 46km
Our transfer will take you to the beautiful medieval village of Peratallada, a stunning medieval village. The route goes via the beautiful village of Pals and via rural roads to the large village of Palafrugell and on to the fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell. Via a gravel cycle path you reach the beautiful beach of Castell, one of the best preserved sandy beaches of the Costa Brava. The route leads you right through the large fishing village of Palamos and the touris resort Platja d'Aro before arriving in Sant Feliu de Guixols.

Day 7: End of the tour

Free day in Sant Feliu de Guixols and optional transfer to Barcelona Airport, Girona or Figueres Train Station. You can also choose to stay a few days longer to enjoy the beautiful beaches or continue to the region of Dali or Barcelona.
